[DIY] The Easiest & Affordable Halloween Decor: How to Summon Casper The Friendly Ghost

In today's economy, pinching pennies wherever and whenever possible is a must especially when it comes to the holidays.  Without a budget, it's very easy to lose track and spend all of our money on holiday decor.

This year, I focused on creating a DIY project that uses every day items that you can find at home.  Today, you'll learn how to summon Casper The Friendly Ghost!

To get started on this super simple and affordable DIY project, here are the supplies you'll need:
  1. White paper
  2. Sharpie
  3. Pencil to trace
  4. An old picture frame
Let's get started on our Halloween project!

Step 1: Draw an outline of a face using your pencil.  Depending on your style or vibe, you can do any facial expression.  I normally go with a friendlier/ PG version of Halloween versus one that is gruesome or scary, but today, I'll do an easy ghost facial expression.

Step 2:  Once you got the outline, trace it with your sharpie. This pack of sharpie was one that I bought at Walmart. It came with different sizes which is perfect for outlining and shading.

Step 3: Fill in the outline and add the finished product to your frame.  The frame I chose was a gold color with designs to give it a more traditional, old school feel to it.

Congratulations! You have officially summoned Casper The Friendly Ghost!

Here is a photo of our simple entry way to scare away all the ghouls and goblins this year.
What do you think? If you summoned Casper in your home, share it in the comments. Enjoy!

  1. One of the biggest trends in today’s accessory design is the creative blending of quotes, cartoons, and artistic prints to craft truly unique styles. Designers often mix motivational typography with light illustrations or pair playful cartoon characters with bold, abstract backgrounds. The result is eye-catching accessories that feel fresh, expressive, and completely personal.
More and more people are also choosing coordinated sets—like phone cases that match their tumblers, tote bags that pair with their canvas art, or wall prints that tie into their desk décor. This approach creates a cohesive aesthetic across everyday items and living spaces, making everything feel intentional, stylish, and well-curated.
